Common questions
A delivery note usually records the items and quantities delivered. A document that bills for a supply of goods or services counts as an invoice under section 14(1) UStG, regardless of its title. An invoice contains the statutory mandatory details, such as tax number or VAT ID, invoice number and amounts.
Under section 14(4) UStG, mandatory details include the supplier and customer name and address, tax number or VAT ID, date of issue, a sequential invoice number, quantity and description of delivered items, delivery date, the net amounts broken down by tax rate, and the applicable tax rate and tax amount or a reference to an exemption.
Small businesses under section 19 UStG do not show VAT or a tax rate separately on the invoice. Under section 34a UStDV, the invoice must indicate that the small business exemption applies.
This tool does not create correction documents. The right approach depends on the document and circumstances. Check current official guidance and get professional advice for tax questions.
No. The PDF generated by this tool is a standard PDF, but not an e-invoice within the meaning of section 14(1) UStG and BMF guidance, as it contains no structured data format (such as ZUGFeRD or XRechnung). For transition rules, see section 27 UStG and the BMF FAQ.
