Review shipping suggestions and why they apply
Start with templates
Start with templates for Germany, international shipping, high order values, or an eBay account. Add conditions such as weight and item quantity to suit your products.
Check saved rules against orders
Choose an existing order under Review rules. The preview explains the active saved rules without changing the shipping service, order, or history.
See item weight and quantity
See the total item weight in grams and the sum of all item quantities. Two units plus three units count as five, even if there are only two line items.
Spot missing weights
If a unit has no valid weight, the total weight stays unknown. The preview names the affected items and links to the order.
Understand priority and stopping
Applied, Replaced, Does not match, and Skipped explain the result. A later matching rule can replace the shipping service unless an earlier rule stops the check.
Review rule decisions in order history
The order shows saved rule decisions and manual overrides with the shipping service and recorded author. Displayed names are marked as current values.
Example with fictional data
Example: Why the 800 g rule applies
An order contains 2 items at 200 g each and 3 at 150 g each. Your saved rule says: suggest DHL Parcel from 800 g. Review rules lets you check the values and decision for this order.
- 850 g item weight
- 2 × 200 g plus 3 × 150 g equals 850 g. A valid line-item weight takes precedence over the item's default weight.
- 5 units
- The check adds all item quantities. The number of distinct order line items does not matter.
- Rule applies
- 850 g meets the 800 g threshold. If no later matching rule replaces it, DHL Parcel is the preview result.
If an item's weight is missing, the total remains unknown and a weight condition does not match. Packaging is not included in the total item weight. The preview does not buy a label or save a decision in the order history.
How to review your shipping rules
After registering and setting up your account, you need an active shipping service and an existing order. Managing and reviewing rules requires permission to access settings and the order view.
- Connect your eBay account or import an order. Under Settings → Shipping services & labels, set up the shipping service you want to use.
- Open Settings → Shipping rules. Use a template, adjust the conditions, priority, and shipping service, then save the rule.
- Open Review rules and select the order. Compare the weight, item quantity, and reasons for each rule; the check makes no changes.
- Open the order → Order history to review an actual saved decision or manual override.
Already have an account? Sign in and open your rules under Settings → Shipping rules.
Common questions
No. The preview checks active saved rules against an existing order. It does not change the order or buy postage. Saving or changing a rule is a separate step and may recalculate shipping suggestions for open orders.
The sum of all item quantities. Two units on one line plus three on another make five units, not two line items.
The total item weight: a positive line-item weight, or otherwise the valid default weight of the linked item, multiplied by the quantity. If a valid weight is missing, the total stays unknown. Packaging is not included.
Rules are checked in priority order. Unless Stop after a match is enabled, a later matching rule can replace the shipping service. The preview shows Applied, Replaced, Does not match, and Skipped.
Saved rule decisions and manual overrides, including the shipping service and recorded author. Rule and service names show current values, not immutable historical rule text. Conditions that did not match in the preview are not saved individually.
