Shipping carriers for eBay merchants

Who this section is for

For eBay merchants who ship under their own contracts. Parcels go through your DHL business customer account; letters and merchandise shipments go through your Deutsche Post postage account. Shipnovo uses your credentials and rates. DHL and Deutsche Post charge postage directly to you. Shipnovo charges a fixed monthly price, not a fee per label.

DHL: parcels, small parcels and international shipping

With your DHL business customer account, Shipnovo creates labels for DHL Paket up to 31.5 kg and DHL Kleinpaket up to 1 kg within Germany. For international shipping, use DHL Paket International, DHL Europaket and Warenpost International. Enter customs information in Shipnovo. Choose additional services such as age verification, extra insurance or no delivery to neighbours in the shipping method. If the address has a Postnummer, the parcel goes to a Packstation or branch.

Deutsche Post: Internetmarke through your postage account

Buy postage for letters and merchandise shipments through your postage account. Shipnovo purchases the Internetmarke and prints the sender and recipient details at the same time. Within Germany, options include postcard, standard letter, compact letter, large letter, maxi letter and merchandise shipment. Letter products are also available in international versions. Parcels require DHL.

Shipping methods and print formats

A shipping method combines a product, additional services and a print format. Set it up once and select it whenever you need it. Print DHL labels at 103 × 150 mm or 103 × 199 mm for thermal printers, as laser labels on A5 sheets, or as an A4 PDF. Internetmarke is available as an A4 PDF with address, a 10 × 5 cm label, on an A4 label sheet or as a postage area only. Shipping rules suggest the right method, for example by country or eBay account.

Connect a shipping account

In Settings, connect your DHL account to your business customer contract, or your Deutsche Post account to Internetmarke and your postage account. Choose your sender address and printer format under Shipping methods. Then check Settings → Setup & function test to see which steps remain. Start with a few orders, because real labels incur postage through your own shipping account.

Other parcel carriers

GLS, DPD, Hermes and UPS are not connected yet. If you ship some parcels with one of them, continue buying those labels directly from the carrier. Use Shipnovo for all shipments with DHL and Deutsche Post.

From label to shipping notification

In a shipping run, Shipnovo creates labels for all selected orders and the packing list in the same order. Confirm shipment after packing. Only then does Shipnovo report the tracking number to the eBay account linked to the order. Under Settings → Shipping notification to eBay, choose which shipments to report.

Avoid paying postage twice

If a DHL response is unclear, Shipnovo flags the shipment for review instead of buying postage again. Reprinting a label does not count as a new shipment. Without a DHL business customer contract, upload unused original DHL PDFs as label stock and assign them to shipments.
