Warenpost, Kleinpaket, Warensendung: the differences
- Domestic Warenpost is no longer available. DHL’s former Warenpost page now leads to DHL Kleinpaket.
- DHL Kleinpaket is for business customers with a contract: up to 35,3 × 25 × 8 cm and 1 kg, with tracking and liability up to 20 €.
- Deutsche Post’s Warensendung is available to everyone: inexpensive, but without tracking or liability, with a delivery time of around 4 working days.
- Großbrief and Maxibrief only include basic tracking without proof of delivery. Einschreiben Einwurf (+ 2,35 €) provides proof of delivery and liability up to 20 €.

Not within Germany. DHL’s former Warenpost page now leads to DHL Kleinpaket. Warenpost International is still available to business customers for international shipping.
A maximum of 35.3 × 25 × 8 cm and 1 kg, with minimum dimensions of 10 × 7 cm. It includes tracking with proof of delivery and liability coverage for goods valued at up to €20.
Under the tariff for 200 or more shipments per year, €3.49 plus VAT per shipment (as of 08/2026). DHL advertises prices starting at €3.29. Surcharges may also apply, such as the peak surcharge in November and December.
No. Kleinpaket is only available with a DHL business customer contract. Private individuals can still use Warensendung, Großbrief, Maxibrief, Päckchen and parcel services.
DHL Päckchen includes neither tracking nor liability coverage. DHL Paket includes both, with liability coverage up to €500. The 2 kg parcel is only available online, for €6.19.
