Set up the DHL Business Customer Portal for eBay

With your own DHL business customer contract, you ship eBay orders under your contract terms. However, eBay does not connect to this contract itself. This guide explains what you need to prepare in the Business Customer Portal before connecting shipping software.

What you need before you start

You need a business customer contract with DHL and access to the Post & DHL Business Customer Portal. DHL determines which products your contract includes. Check this before creating your first label.

  • administrator access to the Business Customer Portal
  • a system user for connecting software
  • the billing numbers for the products you want to use
  • your sender address as you want it to appear on the label

Use a system user instead of your personal login

To connect software, an administrator creates a system user in the portal. Its user group profile must include the necessary billing numbers.

The login for the DHL Developer Portal is different. It should not be entered in shipping software for merchants.

How the billing number is structured

The billing number has 14 characters. The first ten digits are your EKP, which is your DHL customer number. These are followed by two digits for the procedure and two characters for the participation.

The procedure identifies the product, for example 01 for DHL Paket or 62 for DHL Kleinpaket. Each product therefore needs a corresponding billing number.

From the portal to the eBay order

In Shipnovo, you enter the system user and billing number once. Shipnovo checks access without purchasing a label. You then create labels for eBay orders under your contract.

After shipment confirmation, Shipnovo sends the DHL tracking number to the eBay account associated with the order. The guide in the help section shows each click.
