Handling eBay returns: the process for sellers
A return has two sides: the money for the buyer and the goods for your inventory. The refund is handled through eBay. You inspect and book the goods into stock yourself. This guide separates the two steps.

Returns on eBay
The buyer starts the return on eBay. Deadlines and conditions are governed by your return policy and eBay's rules. The return label is provided through eBay or your shipping provider.
Inspect goods before putting them back into stock
Inspect every returned item. In Shipnovo, you allocate the quantities in goods receipt to “Verkaufbar” (sellable), “Beschädigt” (damaged) and “Ungeklärt” (unresolved). Only sellable items go back into stock.
Unresolved items go into the “Ware prüfen” (inspect goods) list. You decide later whether they are sellable or damaged.
Issue a refund
You issue the refund through eBay or your payment provider. Shipnovo does not refund money. You record the status in Shipnovo using “Retoure erfassen” (record return).
Preventing returns
You can prevent many returns at the packing stage:
- scan every item in packing mode
- include precise dimensions and photos in the listing
- use sturdy packaging for fragile goods
